To the Bayfield Community and Derby Participants,
After much deliberation, discussion, and a vote, the Bayfield Lions Club has made the difficult decision to step down from organizing the Joe Brandon Memorial Trout Derby. Unfortunately, I am currently facing some health challenges and am no longer able to continue in my role as convenor. Following a questionnaire sent to our members, no one within the club was able to step forward to take over leadership of the event.
However, I am thrilled to share that a dedicated group of anglers from Rainbow Valley Campground has stepped up to run this year’s derby and keep our 48-year tradition alive!

Tickets available at Bayfield Convenience
Due to recent tornado damage in the area, the new committee has made a few important operational changes for this year’s event:
- Ticket Cap: Sales are limited to 150 tickets total.
- Pricing & Availability: Tickets return to $25 each. They are currently being printed and will be available mid-week at Bayfield Convenience.
- Camping: There is no free camping this year due to limited site availability, so please book your spot early directly with the campground.
Both the Bayfield Lions Club and I sincerely apologize for any confusion during this transition, and we thank you for supporting the new organizing team as they carry this wonderful tradition forward.
